Step confidently into the training room—virtual or in-person—with this practical, skills-based programme designed for new or aspiring trainers. Whether
you're already delivering sessions or just starting out in L&D, this course equips you with the knowledge, techniques, and confidence to create engaging,
inclusive learning experiences.
Led by experienced tutors, the programme blends theory with hands-on practice to help you plan, deliver, and evaluate high-impact training.
Who is it for?
Suitable for L&D newcomers, in-house trainers, or anyone seeking formal training design credentials.
You will learn how to:
- Identify the Characteristics of an effective trainer
- Identify and create the most appropriate classroom (and virtual classroom) learning
environment - Develop lesson plans, relevant learning aids and materials
- Explore issues of equality, diversity and inclusion
- Understand group dynamics in a learning environment
- Identify, explain and assess a range of learning evaluation models, techniques and
approachesIdentify types of learner assessments and their advantages and disadvantages including - feedback
- Facilitate learning transfer

- Roles and Competences of the Trainer
- Preparing and Delivering Training
- Learning Assessment and Training Evaluation
Delivery Format
Online via Zoom by experienced tutors.
Duration
One virtual class per week for four consecutive weeks
Assessment
Assessment will be based on:
• Maintaining a learner record
• Project
• Skills demonstration/presentation
Deadline for final submissions are typically three weeks after completion of the programme.
Certification
On completion of this course you will receive a QQI Level 6 – Training Delivery and Evaluation Component Award 6N3326 (15 ECTS Credits).
To receive the full QQI Level 6 Award, complete Module 1 Training Needs Analysis & Design, which leads to the L&DI Professional Practice Certificate in Training & Development, QQI Level 6 Training and Development Special Purpose Award – 6S3372 (30 ECTS Credits).
