About the Course
Universal Design Principles for Learning and Inclusion
Whether you're designing learning programmes, shaping policy, or promoting a more equal and inclusive culture, this course will give you a
fresh perspective on how to create environments where everyone can engage, learn, and thrive.
You will get the opportunity to:
- Describe the core principles of Universal Design (UD), including the neuroscience-informed foundations of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and explain their relevance to inclusive organisational practice.
- Identify barriers to participation and access in their own organisational or learning contexts and explore peer-informed strategies for addressing them.
- Engage in peer-to-peer discussions to examine practical tools and real-world examples that support the implementation of UD principles.
- Apply the UDL framework—through multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression as a lens for reviewing and enhancing organisational learning practices.
- Reflect on their role, and their organisation’s role, in promoting inclusive, learner-centred design and accessible environments.
- Present a practical project or case study that demonstrates how UD principles can be meaningfully embedded in their own context, informed by shared insights and collaborative learning.
Who should attend:
- This new programme is designed for L&D professionals and other leaders who want to make learning and workplace communication more inclusive, accessible, and learner focused.
Tutors – the course is facilitated by expert tutors who bring a powerful combination of expertise in Universal Design and quality assurance with real world practitioner experience to deliver a learning journey that is practical and transformative.
Certification: is through the Learning and Development Institute based on assessment of the practical project and its application of Universal Design principles.
