Membership levels, why do they matter?

L&DI membership levels reflect your level of capability, knowledge and impact in the workplace. Your member grade shows colleagues, clients and potential employers what you can offer as a people professional, so make sure your grade matches up with your abilities.

You can put the letters behind your name - post-nominals - as a sign of professional recognition.

There’s a membership level to suit everyone working in the people profession, from a student member building their skills for the future, to a Fellow, putting their years of experience into practice.

*GRADE*		*QUALIFICATION*	*CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT*	*ROLES AND EXPERIENCE*
Fellow	FLDI	Holding a qualification at NFQ Level 9 (or equivalent) or higher in Learning & Development or a related discipline	10 days/ year documented continuous Development for the past 5 years	10 years at a senior level, providing strategic contribution, in a Learning & Development or related discipline role
Member	MLDI	Holding a qualification at NFQ Level 7 (or equivalent) or higher in Learning & Development or a related discipline	8 days/year documented Continuous Development for the past 3 years	3 years in a Learning & Development or related discipline role
Associate	ALDI	Holding a qualification at NFQ Level 6 (or equivalent) or higher in Learning & Development or a related discipline	5 days/year documented Continuous Development for the past year	1 year in a Learning & Development or related discipline role
Graduate		Holding a qualification at NFQ Level 6 (or equivalent) or higher in Learning & Development or a related discipline	not applicable	none
Student		Currently studying for a qualification at NFQ Level 6 (or equivalent) or higher in Learning & Development or a related discipline	not applicable	not applicable
Affiliate		A person who has an interest in L&DI activities but has no relevant, or less than required, qualification	not applicable	not applicable

Can I upgrade & does it cost the same?

It’s easy to upgrade, simply add your qualifications and experience to your account section on the website. You can find the place to update your details on the left-hand side navigation, simply click on qualifications, experience & CPD.

We will send you details of the your level upgrade as soon as we’ve reviewed your details.

There is a flat fee for membership regardless of what level you are on.
