The Learning & Development Institute, founded in 1969, is the professional body representing members concerned with Learning and Talent Development in Ireland.

In Autumn 2022 employment in Ireland reached 2,554,300 which was an increase of 83,000 or 3.4% over the year. Increases occurred in all sectors except for the Accommodation and Food, Finance and Insurance, and Agriculture sectors.
The biggest rise in employment was in Construction, Health and Social Work, and Industry. Despite recent job-shedding announcements by several leading ICT multinationals, employment within ICT rose by 12,200 over the year.
Most sectors now exceed the numbers employed before pre-pandemic levels except for the Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing sector, and Accommodation and Food Services activities which are around 4% lower. All regions increased employment with the South-East having the highest percentage increase at 8%, compared to the Border region with the lowest increase at 1.6%.
